Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was an athlete of natural talent who loved to play tough sports games. Her inherent ability to perform was the perfect match for her passion for sports. As evidenced by being the recipient of nearly every Feis awards for drama and musical performances that her country could offer. The Abbey Theater was her first choice. Abbey Theater by age 14 in which she continued to pursue her passion for classical and opera. This course was to be altered, however, when Charles Laughton, after seeing a screen test of Maureen and was mesmerized by her stunning eyes. Before deciding to cast her as a character in Jamaica Inn (1939), Laughton along with his co-star, Erich Pommer, changed her name changed from Maureen FitzSimons to "Maureen O'Hara" - - a more concise name for the marquee. Maureen was on contract with Laughton for her upcoming movie in America at RKO Pictures (The Hunchback of Notre Dame, 1939). Maureen was able to buy her contract with Laughton after the epic was an immense success. Maureen was 19 when she made her debut with Laughton in two movies.
